I did everything cdc and my employer wanted, including this mask nonsense, many people at work got the COVID with hospital stays, I had something for a week was not bad,annoying More than anything, pain top of lungs, no fever, but this virus spread through our work in May, well into everyone wearing masks and 6ft meetings cleaning crew daily detoxing shit, but some how, some way lots got it. Now I gave it to my wife, she had same shit pain top lungs and cough, but blood clots in leg is the scary part, now I’m the only one who left house for shopping and work, masked it all the fucking time away from home, your gonna slip up and get it. My personal opinion, masks are useless.
So how did they get it? Is it airborne & being breathed in?
What percentage were infected? How many who wore masks vs others (if any) that didn't? Would it have been worse if masks & 6ft distancing were not followed?
How many people are at your work at any time & how close to each other? Do the masks ever come off, e.g. lunchtime?
A report like this make me wonder if being at a crowded football game or in a full airplane would be safe even with masks.
My do-it-yourself at home mask tests for fun
I tested several different types of masks for air flow, water absorption, water resistance & water leakage. I also tested a large sized plastic freezer bag for the same.
The masks tested included KN95, medical & 5 cloth material masks.
The airflow testing involved putting on the masks and blowing hard towards a single piece of kleenex tissue 2, 6, 12 & 18 inches in front of me. With the KN95, medical masks & freezer bag there was no visible movement of the kleenex from any distance when blowing hard. With the cloth masks there was very little to no visible movement of the tissue. Without the masks the tissue was moved easily even just by blowing lightly.
The water leakage test was performed by filling the masks with some cold water from the bathroom tap. The KN95 & medical masks leaked no water & remained dry on the opposite side. The 5 cloth masks, as you'ld expect, leaked much water, some a drop at a time & others more like a stream. After a brief time the remaining pools of water were emptied from these 5, the masks had absorbed much of the water, making them soaked for hours & leaking had ceased.
The next test sprayed water for several seconds into one side of 4 masks & the freezer bag i held with the other hand. Water did not visibly spray through any of these materials. Instead they all blocked the spraying water. The vast majority of water fell into the sink. The 2 cloth masks, as one would expect, became somewhat soaked & wet on the opposite side. The freezer bag, KN95 & medical masks retained many small drops of water on the sprayed side. On the opposite side they were dry.
They never said the masked worked 100%. Plus different masks have different protection %'s. All they said was that it helps. And also how you use the mask, if you touch it with your hands when taking it off, etc. Also maybe your co workers got it from somewhere other than work.
I'm sorry it didn't work for you or your wife, and what you guys went through, but All they said was that it helps. And that it helps people around you. If it worked 100%, why would they be looking for a vaccine? There's a lot of variables, but people on here can't seem to think for more than 5 seconds and 1 thought at a time. Not neccesarily you.
